IMPORTANT NOTICE

EFFECTIVE MARCH 26, 2020 Skagit County Planning & Development Services has temporarily closed our Permit Counter to the public and we are operating remotely.

The safety and well-being of our staff and the community is our highest priority. As the situation surrounding the novel coronavirus, COVID-19 changes, we are committed to staying up-to-date and responding to recommendations from local public health officials.

In response to the Governor’s March 23rd Stay-at-Home order and the March 25th Memo, we can only provide building services to commercial projects considered essential, publicly funded low-income residential housing or emergency repairs.  Please visit this State website if you need clarity on whether you qualify as an essential construction site. If your project meets this criteria, please email PDS@co.skagit.wa.us and cite the specific page, section and line of the Governor’s order and confirm that it also complies with the subsequent memo.

Thank you for your patience and we look forward to continuing to assist you in your planning and development needs! We will continue to keep the community updated with any changes through our website, email, and social media.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Questions for Our Team:
We are doing our best to continue other operations remotely. Please e-mail any questions to PDS@co.skagit.wa.us and we will try to respond as quickly as possible. Please make sure your e-mail includes your Project Number (if applicable), Parcel Number (if available) and contact information. For more specific questions, our staff directory is located here. While questions can be answered by phone (Main Line 360-416-1320), there may be more of a delay in response.

Application Submittals
All applications and appeals should be emailed to PDS@co.skagit.wa.us. Please send applications in PDF format with a file size no greater than 30 MB.

We will review the applications in the order they come in.  However, only complete applications and appeals will be accepted.  Please make sure you have a complete application or appeal, otherwise it will not be processed. You will be contacted by our department for payment once the application is processed. At this time, we can only process payments by credit card over the phone. An application will not be deemed complete without receipt of payment.  Please note that review times may be significantly delayed and a notice may be issued acknowledging this.  We appreciate your patience as we try our best to continue operating remotely.

Payments
Payments can be made by phone to our main line, 360-416-1320, on Monday and Wednesday.

Comment Letters
Please email all comments to PDScomments@co.skagit.wa.us.

Permit Inspections
We have also ceased to perform non-emergency inspections on commercial and residential construction until the Governor’s order is lifted, with exception for essential businesses. All construction sites shall be secured and made safe prior to vacating. Inspections for emergency repairs identified in the Governor’s order may be performed using Facetime or Skype.
