The Budget and Finance Department:
  • Facilitates the Board of County Commissioners in developing the Annual Budget.
  • Administrates and maintains the financial system for the County including all system processes, security, and structure in accordance with BARS.
  • Works with County offices and departments to assure that compliance with proper internal control procedures, laws and grant requirements are achieved and maintained.
  • Researches, develops and reviews funding sources.

2017 Budget Information

Applications sought for Economic Development Grant projects

Up to $2,000,000 in grant funding is available for economic development projects in Skagit County that create or retain family-wage jobs in the community. Applications are accepted beginning Tuesday, Feb. 21, and must be received by 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 14.

Grant awards are limited to no more than $500,000 per project or project phase. Preference is given to projects that match county grant funds and that create or retain long-term, sustainable jobs. Funds must be used for construction.

The Advisory Committee will review project applications in late April, with grant awards scheduled for mid-May.
