GUEMES ISLAND, SOUTH SHORE ROAD IMPROVEMENT CONCEPTS

South Shore Road is located along the Southern shoreline of Guemes Island, atop an active feeder bluff and is being threatened of being eroded away by the Guemes Channel. There are currently four locations along S. Shore Road where Public Works have taken precautionary measures to make the road safe for travel including restricting traffic to one lane and reduction in speed limit to 25 mph.
A public meeting was held on June 3rd, 2008 at the Guemes Island Community Center where Guemes residents were shown some conceptual plans of long term solutions for S. Shore Road that Public Works created. Residents were encouraged to come up with their own solutions and provide that input to Public Works. Those conceptual plans are available for download below, as well as the informational handout and comment sheet.

These files are in the Adobe Acrobat .Pdf format. You need the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in loaded on your browser to view and print Acrobat .pdf files. You can download it here for free.

Please note: These plans are conceptual in nature. Their purpose is to help spur thought and show the magnitude of the project. The final project will NOT include destruction of any homes and we will make every effort to limit any property impacts.
