Skagit County Parks Implements Campfire Restrictions Due to Dry Conditions

Skagit County Parks Implements Campfire Restrictions Due to Dry Conditions

Due to increasingly dry conditions and in the interest of public safety, Skagit County Parks and Recreation is implementing fire restrictions at several popular campgrounds.

Effective immediately:

  • Open campfires are prohibited at Sauk Campground and Grandy Lake Campground.
  • Only contained propane firepits are permitted at these sites.

At Howard Miller Steelhead Park, open campfires are currently allowed but may be prohibited if conditions worsen and a Red Flag warning is issued. At this time, there are no restrictions on recreational campfires.

Campers are reminded to fully extinguish all fires before going to bed each night. This includes dousing with water, stirring the ashes, and ensuring the fire is cold to the touch.

Failure to comply with these restrictions may result in the loss of campfire privileges at Howard Miller Steelhead Park.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep our parks safe and enjoyable for everyone.
