Join Skagit County’s Master Composter Recycler program and make a real difference in your community! The certification training, hosted by the Skagit County Solid Waste Division, provides participants with tools and knowledge to share back to the community as official waste reduction educators. The program provides over 20 hours of training to explore backyard composting, vermicomposting, recycling, waste reduction, sustainable living, green cleaning, and more. The program schedule includes eight in-person classroom sessions on Thursdays, and two Saturday field trips. Participants receive a training notebook, two free books on topics of waste reduction, and an official name badge. Certified Master Composter Recyclers “pay back” the no-cost training by returning 24-hours of volunteer service as representatives of the program by tabling at events (such as fairs and farmers markets), growing redworms for compost workshops, maintaining compost demonstration sites, and sharing knowledge with neighbors and community groups. 2026 Training Dates
