Dianne Goddard appointed to fill District Court judgeship

The Skagit County Board of Commissioners appointed Dianne Goddard to fill a vacant District Court Judge position. The appointment becomes effective Jan. 1, 2017.

Commissioner Dahlstedt nominated Goddard to the position, with a second by Commissioner Wesen. She was appointed by a 3-0 vote among Commissioners.

Goddard currently serves as District Court Commissioner. She was one of two finalists for the position after initial reviews of eight candidates, all Skagit County residents as required by law.

Former District Court Judge David Svaren was confirmed as winner of the election for Superior Court Judge, position 3, on Nov. 29, which created the District Court Judge, position 2, vacancy.

Goddard will be required to run for reelection to the position in a future general election.
