SKAGIT RIVER FLOOD WARNING

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Flood Warning for The Skagit River near Concrete from this evening to Thursday afternoon.

At 10:15 AM Tuesday the stage was 20.6 feet.
Flood stage is 28.0 feet.
Major flooding is forecast.
Forecast: The river will rise above flood stage around 8 PM Tuesday and crest near 37.4 feet around 10 AM Wednesday. The river will fall below flood stage Thursday morning.
* Impact: At 37 feet...the Skagit River will cause major flooding from Rockport downstream through Sedro Woolley. Deep and swift flood waters will inundate many roads...farms...and some business and residential areas especially Cape Horn...Hamilton...and Thunderbird. Cockreham Island...the Nookachamps area and the Sterling area will be inundated. Levees east of Sedro Woolley may be damaged. Flooding will occur all along the river including headwaters...tributaries...
and other streams within and near the Skagit River Basin This level for this location on the Skagit corresponds to a Phase 3 flood in the Skagit County flood system.

A flood warning issued by the National Weather Service is in effect for Skagit County.  A flood warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.

Skagit Department of Emergency Management is activating the Emergency Coordination Center (ECC) at 5pm today.

Voluntary evacuations have occurred in Cape Horn and Hamilton in response to the threat of a flood.
