The meeting is open to the public and will be available to join via Zoom at the link on the Commissioners’ website. The meeting will be hosted in the Skagit County Public Health Chinook Room at 301 Valley Mall Way, Suite 110, Mount Vernon, WA 98273. There will be an opportunity for public comment at the beginning of the agenda.

North Star hosts regular joint meetings with elected officials representing Skagit County to ensure alignment and understanding between jurisdictions on North Star priorities and projects. The November 6th joint meeting will include continued discussions on the following items:

  • Proposals and next steps for collaborative opioid settlement fund investments.
  • Draft interlocal agreement between the cities and the county formalizing the North Star partnership.
  • 2026 joint meeting schedule and discussion topics.
  • Cross-jurisdictional sharing on addressing unique challenges in our communities and opportunities for regional collaboration.

The strength of North Star comes from the ability to work together, collaborating with local governments, elected leaders, and provider partners to solve our most pressing community issues. North Star has shown what is possible when we align our efforts to help people in need and ensure we are helping those in the community who need it most. Background on North Star

North Star is a public-private partnership between Skagit County, our four local cities, housing and healthcare providers, first responders, and many other community leaders. Using a collaborative approach to pool our resources, coordinate action, and streamline essential community services in housing, behavioral health and recovery, and crisis response, North Star is working to address chronic homelessness and create a thriving Skagit for all. Working together across jurisdictions to solve complex issues is unique in our region. It is also more effective, costs less, and gets people the support and services they need, when they need them.
