Sealed bids accepted until Dec. 2 for sale of surplus county facility, property

Looking for a sizeable facility with retail frontage? Skagit County has just the building for you: It’s selling a surplus facility at 1101 E College Way for $930,000. Sealed bids will be accepted until 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, by the Skagit County Treasurer, 700 S 2nd St., Room 205, Mount Vernon.

The Board of Skagit County Commissioners authorized the sale of the facility through the sealed bid process during a public hearing Tuesday, Oct. 25.

The Skagit County Treasurer will review bids and announce the winning bidder at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at the Board of County Commissioners’ Hearing Room, 1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon. Terms of sale state that the winning bidder must present cash or a certified check by 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at the Skagit County Treasurer’s Office.

The 12,978-square-foot facility being sold by the county was previously owned by the Salvation Army; it sits on a 1.76-acre site comprised of three separate tax parcels being sold as one. Access to the facility is available from E. College Way and through an access road west of the property. It is zoned General Commercial (C-2), and is served by all current public utilities, including city water and sewer, electricity and natural gas.
