Skagit County Clerk’s Office to launch E-Filing System

Today, the Skagit County Clerk’s Office announced it is developing a new e-filing system that will allow parties and clients to submit documents securely and electronically. Customers will create an online self-service portal that will allow them to confidentially submit necessary documents. This system is possible because of a grant from the Washington State Administrative Office of the Courts, made possible by the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

“COVID-19 has changed a lot of things about day to day life, including our reliance on technology,” said Skagit County Clerk Melissa Beaton. “Implementing this system will modernize the way we conduct business, reduce delays, and save time, money and transportation costs for the Clerk’s office and members of the public. We’re really grateful to the Commissioners’ Office and Skagit County Information Services for their support in moving this project forward.”

The Skagit County Clerk’s office is one of several independent elected officials provided by the Washington State Constitution with specific and special duties assigned by statute, as well as local and state court rulings. The County Clerk’s office serves as the administrative and financial officer for Skagit County Superior Court. “COVID-19 recovery and resiliency has taken many forms. One critical area is moving County services online so we can conduct essential official business while protecting the health of county employees and residents,” said Skagit County Board of Commissioners Chair Ron Wesen. “This is a big step forward for customer service during the pandemic.”

The e-filing system will be online by the end of October. Until then, residents can file documents with the Clerk's office in person, by mail or through email. More information on emailing filings is available here:
