Welcome to Skagit County
September 17, 2019 Skagit County Public Health to Host Housing Summit SKAGIT COUNTY, WA – Skagit County Public Health will host a Housing Summit on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at McIntyre Hall Performing Arts & Conference Center in Mount Vernon from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Skagit County residents are facing a variety of housing challenges, including a shortage of workforce housing, extremely low vacancy rates, high rents, and homelessness. The Housing Summit will bring together housing experts and concerned community members who are interested in being a part of the conversation about local housing issues and potential solutions. Tedd Kelleher from the Washington State Department of Commerce and Margaret Morales from Sightline Institute will be delivering keynote addresses. Several nonprofit organizations will be in attendance to share information about their efforts to provide housing and services in our community. This event is a follow up to the County’s first Housing Summit which took place in January 2016, and will address progress that has been made since that time as well as new challenges the County is currently facing. The Housing Summit is open to the public. Register at: www.skagitcounty.net/housingsummit. Use promo code DISCOUNT19 through Tuesday, October 1 to save $5 per ticket. Full-price tickets will be available October 2 – 10, or until sold out. A free option is available for people with past or present lived experience with homelessness. For questions, or if you or your business, group, or nonprofit would like to sponsor the event, please contact Sarah Hinman with Skagit County Public Health at sarahh@co.skagit.wa.us or 360-416-1507.
