Skagit County ferry haul-out to take place from September 28 through October 25, 2015
SKAGIT COUNTY – As a reminder, the 2015 ferry haul-out will take place from September 28 through October 25. The last run the car ferry will do will be at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, September 27. Then the ferry will make its voyage south to Lake Union Drydock in Seattle. The vehicle ferry is expected to return to service at 6:30 a.m. Monday, October 26.
Passenger-only ferry service will be provided by Arrow Launch Services aboard the STRAIT ARROW. The STRAIT ARROW will be in operation between the regular ferry landings starting Sunday, September 27, at 9:15 p.m. through Sunday, October 25. Service will be in accordance with the regular sailing schedule for the Guemes Island Ferry. The passenger-only vessel can accommodate 49 passengers and also allows bicycles. Small motorbikes and electric scooters will be allowed on a space available basis at the discretion of the Captain. Please note that extreme weather conditions may affect this service, and some runs may be cancelled due to extreme low tides. If adverse weather or tidal conditions are anticipated, Skagit County will make every effort to publish an announcement ahead of time.
Skagit Transit will provide call-in shuttle service on Guemes Island during the haul-out. There will be a Skagit Transit bus stop located near the ferry landing. The bus is not equipped with electronic fare boxes; as such, the suggested fare is $1.00 for standard fare, and $.50 for reduced fare (disabled, 65 & older, & under 18). The shuttle hours of operation will be as follows:
Monday – Thursday 7:00am - 11:45am & 12:30pm - 5:30pm
Friday 7:00am - 7:30pm
Saturday 7:00am - 11:45am & 12:30pm - 5:30pm
Sunday 8:30am - 11:45am & 12:30pm - 5:15pm
Waste Management has informed Skagit County that they will continue to provide Guemes customers with garbage and recycling services on the regular service schedule. They have made their own transportation arrangements to and from Guemes Island. Please be aware that pick-up times may vary slightly, but the service days will remain the same.
