Commissioners seek candidates for new district court judgeship

Skagit County – On June 30, 2015, the Washington State Legislature passed House Bill 1061, increasing the number of District Court Judge positions in Skagit County from two to three. Governor Jay Inslee approved this legislation on July 6, 2015.

Effective August 21, 2015, the Skagit County Board of County Commissioners will begin accepting applications from qualified members of the Washington State Bar Association to fill the new judicial position.

Applicants must be registered voters in Skagit County. Applicants are strongly encouraged to promptly submit the Uniform Judicial Evaluation Questionnaire and Waiver & Authorization to Release Information, along with a brief resume.

The Questionnaire and Waiver documents are available here. All applications must be completed and submitted to the Skagit County Commissioners' Office at the following address by September 18, 2015:

The Board of County Commissioners expects to make the selection of a new Skagit County District Court Judge by November 1, 2015, with an effective appointment date of January 1, 2016.
