Skagit Conservation District offers Skagit Stream Team Training
SKAGIT COUNTY --Are you intrigued by the wonders of streams and interested in finding out more about how they function? Applications for participation in the 2013/14 Skagit Stream Team Program are currently being accepted! The Skagit Stream Team program provides an opportunity for local residents, age 18 and up, to participate in hands on water quality monitoring and to gain an understanding of the relationship between natural factors, land use impacts, and a streams health. Participants will collect water quality data approximately once a month in the Samish Bay, Padilla Bay, Fisher Creek, Kulshan Creek, Trumpeter basin, Gages Slough, Clyde Creek, and Nookachamps watersheds (time commitment is approximately 2 4 hours a month through June of 2014).
Volunteers are supplied
with FREE TRAINING, a manual, equipment, and supplies. All volunteers also
gain the opportunity to learn new skills, gain new insights, network with
local experts, meet new friends, and participate in a fun and worthwhile community
project! Applications to participate in the 2013/14 training must be received
by the Skagit Conservation District by Wednesday, September 4, 2013. The training
will be held at the Padilla Bay Research Reserve from 6 pm to 8:30 pm on Tuesday,
Sept. 10, and Thursday, September 12, and from 9 am to 2:30 pm on Saturday,
September 14. New
volunteers must attend all three training sessions.
