Dahlstedt appointed to national leadership team
MOUNT VERNON – Skagit County Commissioner Ken Dahlstedt recently received confirmation of his appointment to a new post on the leadership team of the National Association of Counties (NACo).
NACo President Riki Hokama of Hawaii announced Dahlstedt’s appointment as Vice Chair of the Health Steering Committee on July 25, 2014.
Washington, D.C.-based NACo assists America’s 3,069 counties in pursuit of excellence in delivery of public services. Among current NACo activities is the Healthy Counties Initiative, the goal of which is “to enhance public/private partnerships in local health delivery, improve individual and community health, and assist counties to effectively implement federal health reform.”
Dahlstedt, who has served on several NACo committees since 2001, said he is eager to represent Skagit County in the rapidly changing area of health care.
“We need to make sure counties, especially rural counties such as ours, have a place at the table as our stories are told in the nation’s capital,” said Dahlstedt. “My years of involvement representing Skagit County at the national level have been gratifying. I look forward to serving in a leadership role as we continue to make our voice heard in the vital area of health care.”
Dahlstedt also serves on the NACo Board of Directors as one of two representatives of the Washington State Association of Counties. He also represents Skagit County as Vice Chair of the national organization’s Rural Action Caucus, and as a member of the Immigration Reform Task Force.
