August 4th Board of County Commissioners meeting to discuss and possibly adopt Critical Areas Ordinance reschedule to October 28th

*THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' MEETING TO POTENTIALLY TAKE ACTION ON THE CRITICAL AREAS ORDINANCE IS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 28, 2025, AT 10:15 AM. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PREVIOUS NOTIFICATION CONTAINED AN INCORRECT DATE.

The Board of County Commissioners’ August 4th meeting, which was scheduled to potentially take action on the adoption of the Critical Areas Ordinance, has been canceled.

This cancellation follows a request by the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community for mediation regarding the Critical Areas Ordinance through the Washington State Department of Commerce. In accordance with RCW 36.70A.190(6)(b), the County must postpone further action on the ordinance for a minimum of 60 days. The County will release information regarding this process once it is available.

Skagit County has tentatively rescheduled the meeting for October 28, 2025 at 10:15 a.m., during which the Board may consider taking action on the Critical Areas Ordinance.

The second draft of the ordinance, along with related project documents and public comments on the 2nd draft of the Critical Areas Ordinance, is available below and on the project website: www.skagitcounty.net/2025CPA.
