Skagit County seeks proposals to promote and enhance tourism

SKAGIT COUNTY – Agencies and groups or individuals engaged in the promotion and enhancement of tourism in Skagit County are encouraged to submit proposals for review by the Skagit County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. The Skagit County Board of Commissioners has authorized the committee to make recommendations regarding the annual allocation of funds available from the special excise taxes collected on lodging.

Activities which be considered eligible for assistance include, but not limited to, activities that increase tourism by advertising, publicizing and distribution of information for the purpose of attracting and welcoming tourists; develop strategies to expand tourism; operate tourism promotion agencies; construct tourism-related facilities, and fund and market events and festivals designed to attract tourists.

The expected outcome of such activity is to increase economic activity in Skagit County during the year 2009 through overnight lodging, providing meals, the sale of gifts, souvenirs and other items and the construction of tourism-related facilities.

Applications are available at the Skagit County Commissioners office or online at www.skagitcounty.net

Proposals should be letter-sized, typed, and stapled once in the upper left hand corner and submitted to with one original signed in ink plus five copies to:
