Skagit County Extends Thanks to Survey Participants
SKAGIT COUNTY –The Clean Samish Initiative’s primary goal is to identify and reduce sources of fecal coliform in the Samish watershed. The emphasis is on working together to find solutions that work for property owners and improve the health of the Samish watershed to make a difference for today and future generations.
In an effort to improve the effectiveness of Outreach and Education efforts, Skagit County Public Works Department commissioned Applied Research Northwest to conduct a survey of residents in the Samish watershed. The final report was recently released and is available for review on the Skagit County Clean Samish Initiative webpage.
Skagit County would like to thank the Samish Watershed residents who participated in the survey. We would also like to remind the public that programs and financial resources are in place to assist with septic system inspections and repairs, fencing, native plantings, livestock and manure storage structures. Technical assistance is available from Skagit County and the Skagit Conservation District to assist property owners in implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs) or farm plans to help preserve the health of their pastures and animals.
