April 14, 2026 Skagit County and City of Mount Vernon Host Seniors TownhallThe Skagit County Commissioners and City of Mount Vernon will host a townhall event to discuss Mount Vernon senior services on Monday, April 27th, at from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Library Commons, 208 W. Kincaid Street, Mount Vernon. The event will feature a panel of speakers representing the Skagit Board of County Commissioners, City of Mount Vernon, Mount Vernon City Council, Northwest Regional Council, and Skagit Council on Aging. A moderator will ask various questions of each panelist regarding senior services funding, the future of the Mount Vernon senior center facility, and the upcoming transition of the senior nutrition program starting July 1, 2026. Interested citizens may submit questions for the panel by email to commissioners@co.skagit.wa.us or to mvmayor@mountvernonwa.gov. Written questions may also be dropped off to the front desk of the Mount Vernon Senior Center. Questions must be submitted by Friday, April 24th, at 4:00 p.m. There will be no open public comment period during the event. If the panelists are unable to answer all questions submitted prior to the event, answers will be posted online to Skagit County’s website. The townhall event is free and open to all citizens. Skagit County and the City of Mount Vernon look forward to welcoming the community to an important discussion on senior services.
