Assessor offers assistance for senior, disabled property tax exemptions

Representatives from the Skagit County Assessor’s Office are going mobile to help senior citizens and the disabled file their property tax exemption forms.

Starting March 29, Assessor’s Office representatives will visit local senior centers in Anacortes, Concrete and Sedro-Woolley to help residents complete their exemption paperwork.

“Every year, half the participants in our program need to provide income documentation to continue getting the tax exemption,” said Skagit County Assessor Dave Thomas. “We want to make this process easier by going out in person to help our residents renew their exemption applications or file new applications.”

Residents can meet with staff from the Assessor’s Office at the following locations:

Anacortes Senior Center
1701 22nd St., Anacortes
March 29 and April 12
10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

East County Resource Center
45770 Main Street, Concrete
April 10 and April 27
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sedro-Woolley Senior Center
715 Pacific Street, Sedro-Woolley
May 10 and June 1
10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Seniors age 61 or older, or those with disabilities, who own their own residence can apply for a property tax exemption, provided their household income is $40,000 or less.
