Skagit County moves to online system for job applications

MOUNT VERNON – Effective March 2, 2015, Skagit County will go live with a new online system to improve its application and hiring process.
With this system, job seekers will be able to quickly apply online to numerous positions currently open via the County website, www.skagitcounty.net. Interested candidates can apply for current vacancies or sign up to be notified when new openings become available. 

The County has partnered with NEOGOV, the nation’s largest cloud software provider for government and education human resources departments. Using this technology, HR and department managers can expedite hiring and provide greater accountability when selecting new employees. 

“Switching to an online application system will benefit both the County and job applicants,” said Jessica Neill Hoyson, Skagit County Director of HR & Risk Management. “This change will not only cut down recruiting times but also reach a broader applicant pool.”

Over the last couple of years Skagit County Human Resources has been focused on digitizing processes, reducing paper production and providing a better customer experience to both internal and external customers.

“Launching an online application process checks all of these boxes so we are eager to make this change,” said Neill Hoyson.

The new software streamlines the job search and application process for job seekers. Candidates can now submit multiple applications all electronically, as well as track previous job applications.
It also allows hiring managers to more effectively create minimum qualifications to sort through a pool of applicants. With the new system, administrative work and technical maintenance costs are reduced as this workload is handled by the NEOGOV system.

Skagit County joins more than 1,000 organizations across the nation which have moved into cutting edge online technology for personnel management.
