Funding available to support homeless services, affordable housing
More than a million dollars is available for local public-interest organizations to invest in projects that support affordable housing or homeless services.
Interested organizations must submit letter(s) of interest to Skagit County by 3 p.m. Friday, March 3, with full proposal packages due by 3 p.m. Friday, March 31. Proposals are primarily sought for projects such as affordable housing, low-barrier shelter planning, rental assistance and more.
“We believe homelessness should be rare, brief and a one-time event in Skagit County,” said Jennifer Johnson, Skagit County Public Health Director. “We want our community partners to take advantage of this funding opportunity to keep kids, families and vulnerable adults out of the elements.”
Skagit County received the $1.5 million in funding from a variety of federal, state and local resources to provide to qualified organizations experienced in homeless crisis response services. In 2016, the County distributed money to eight local organizations for projects ranging from emergency shelters to rent assistance to services and shelter for homeless youth.
