Auditor’s Office earns excellence in financial reporting award
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada recently awarded Skagit County the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for fiscal year 2015 – the highest form of recognition for government accounting and financial reporting.
This is the fifth year in a row that Chief Accountant Jana Robbins and key Auditor’s Office staff have earned the award.
The award encourages state and local governments to go above and beyond when preparing annual financial reports, with the goal of creating a transparent document that clearly shows residents and taxpayers the financial activity of their government.
The Auditor’s Office publishes several comprehensive financial reports on its website: https://www.skagitcounty.net/Departments/AuditorAccounting/CAFR.htm
The CAFR application is judged by an impartial panel assembled by the Government Finance Officers Association to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstration of a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story. The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit association serving roughly 17,500 government finance professionals across the country.
