Public Hearing Scheduled for Proposed Revisions to the Skagit County Public Health Schedule of Charges

On February 23, 2023, the Skagit County Board of Health will hold a public hearing regarding the proposed adoption of revised Skagit County Public Health Schedule of Charges at 1:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Hearing Room located at 1800 Continental Place in Mount Vernon. The public hearing provides an opportunity for the public to give comment on the proposed fee changes and allows the Board of Health to consider public comment and take possible action. Public comments for or against the adoption of the proposed revisions are invited by attendance, email, mail, or hand delivery.

Proposed revisions to the Schedule of Charges more closely reflect the actual costs for services such as permitting and inspecting food service establishments, living environment facilities, on-site septic systems, drinking water systems, and other fees. The proposed implementation date is tentatively April 1, 2023, and could affect all permit holders, licenses, and applicants for Environmental Health Services in the Retail Food, On-site Sewage, Drinking Water, Water Recreation, and Living Environment programs. The Schedule of Charges was last revised in 2013 for most programs, apart from the Food program, which was last revised in 2019. To obtain a copy of the proposed Schedule of Charges revisions, please visit the Skagit County Environmental Health webpage or contact Skagit County Public Health at (360) 416-1500.

The public comment period is now open. Those who wish to provide public comment can attend the meeting on February 23, 2023 in person, remotely at https://bit.ly/SkagitBoCCMtg, or by calling: 1 (253) 215-8782 (Meeting ID: 871 8000 1980). To provide public testimony either in person or remotely, you must call the Clerk of the Board at (360) 416-1300 before the meeting and provide your name and town or city of residence. During the public hearing, those who have signed up to provide public testimony will be called on one at a time and have 3 minutes to speak.

Written comments may be submitted by mail or email. Email comments can be sent to EH@co.skagit.wa.us. Written comments not submitted by email can be mailed or hand-delivered to Skagit County Public Health at 700 South Second Street, #301, Mount Vernon, WA 98273. Both emailed and mailed comments must be identified with the subject “Revised Schedule of Charges, Board of Health”. All written comments must be received prior to February 23, 2023, to be considered.
