LA CONNER SENIOR CENTER HOSTS SKAGIT RIVER FLOOD PREVENTION PROJECT PRESENTATION

SKAGIT COUNTY- The public is invited to attend an informational discussion at the La Conner Senior Center, 104 East Commercial Avenue, in Maple Hall, on the topic "Skagit River Flood Prevention/Salmon Restoration," on Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at 1 p.m.

Skagit County and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have completed the first stage of a study to determine an effective way for managing large floods in the Skagit Valley. The devastation of a 100-year flood could result in up to $1 billion in damages, affecting all Skagit County residents. The Skagit County Commissioners are reviewing several alternatives for flood prevention.

Skagit County is dedicated to collecting comments and questions of community members and providing information on the project.
