Funds secured for Concrete's Public Safety Building

SKAGIT COUNTY -- Due to the combined efforts of U.S. Representative Suzan DelBene, State Senator Kirk Pearson and local city and county officials, the Town of Concrete will soon have a new Public Safety Building.
The current building, more than 100 years old and in need of major repair, was becoming a challenge due to erosion beneath the foundation. The only option was to build new.

"Securing project funding has been a team effort from the very start," said Skagit County Commissioner Sharon D. Dillon. "That effort has paid off, first with an appropriation in the Washington State Capital Budget through the efforts of Senator Pearson of $785,000. Then on Monday, January 6, an award of $1 million was announced from federal Community Development Block Grant funds dispersed through the Washington State Department of Commerce."

"Congratulations to the Town of Concrete, former Mayor Judd Wilson, current Mayor Jason Miller, council members and all who worked so hard to bring this project to reality," Dillon concluded.
