Skagit County Transfer and Recycling Station to be closed August 9 for paving
SKAGIT COUNTY - The Skagit
County Transfer and Recycling Station, located at 14104 Ovenell Road in Mount
Vernon, will be closed August 9, 2012 to allow for final paving of facility
improvements.
Over the past year, Skagit County Public Works has been upgrading the main solid
waste handling facility, transitioning from prior incinerator operations to
a state-of-the-art transfer station designed to provide for solid waste handling
needs for at least the next 20 years. The facility improvements include a new
23,000 square foot tipping floor for solid waste handling activities, as well
as a new self-service recycling area designed to provide customers with an improved
recycling experience.
Final paving of the facility will occur on August 9, 2012 (weather permitting)
and will require the facility to be closed to the public for one day. Normal
operations should resume on August 10, 2012 assuming weather delays do not interfere
with planned paving.
Customers needing to dispose of waste during the closure are welcome to visit
the Clear Lake Compactor Site located at 23159 Howey Road in Clear Lake or the
Sauk Transfer Station located at 50796 State Route 20 in Concrete. Normal operations
at the Skagit County Transfer Station are expected to resume August 10, 2012.
