Skagit County leads state in Census returns

SKAGIT COUNTY – The United States Census Bureau recently announced that Skagit County’s mail participation rate for the Census increased by 23 percent from 2000 to 2010. This was the greatest rate of improvement at the county level of any county in Washington State. At a distant second were Clallam, Garfield, and Wahkiakum Counties, all of whom increased their rates by six percent.
Washington’s final rate went up one percent from Census 2000, to 76 percent.
