Coroner’s Media Report

According to the Revised Code of Washington (RCW 68.50.300) the Coroner may release information about a person’s death to the media and general public when such information is necessary to identify the deceased, or when such information is related to an incident that is of public interest. The Coroner will make every effort to first notify the family of the deceased before information is released to the public.

July 18, 2017

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office is investigating the deaths of two children who died in a house fire on Bayview Rd. , Mount Vernon, Washington. The examinations will be performed later this week and the identifications will be released once scientific I.D. is established.

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the examination of an 11 year old female who died at 17000 Block of Cook Rd., Burlington, Washington. The cause and manner of death are pending toxicological analysis and further studies. Information will be updated when the investigation is completed.

July 12, 2017

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the examination of a 69 year old female, Karen L. Vaden, who was hiking Sauk Mountain and died on July 11, 2017. The manner of death is accident. The cause of death is multiple blunt force injuries.

July 6, 2017

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the investigation of the death of Miguel Rene Felix who died in Mount Vernon on May 4, 2017. The manner of death has been determined as homicide with cause of death of penetrating gunshot wound to the head.

June 22, 2017

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the examination on a 44 year old female, Jennifer Althea Young, who died on June 21, 2017 in Anacortes, Washington.  The cause of death is multiple blunt force trauma and the manner is accident. The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the examination of an 86 year old male, Norman M. Graham, from Mount Vernon who was involved in a motor vehicle collision on I-5 on 5/12/17. The manner of death was determined to be an accident and cause was multiple blunt force trauma.

May 5, 2017

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the examination of a 36 year old male named Miguel Rene Felix who died on May 4, 2017. The manner of death is homicide. The cause of death is pending investigation.

April 25, 2017

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the examination on a 24 year old female, Alyssa Lynn Simmons, who was found deceased on April 24, 2017.  The cause and manner of death are pending. Foul play is not suspected.

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the examination on a 44 year old male, Larry Matt Simmons, Jr., who was found deceased on April 24, 2017.  The cause and manner of death are pending. Foul play is not suspected.

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the examination on a 16 year old male who died on March 30, 2017.  The cause of death is listed as multiple gunshot wounds. The manner of death is homicide.

March 29, 2017

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the examination on a 24 year old female, Shannon Denise Cruz, who died on March 28, 2017. The manner of death has been determined to be homicide with cause of death of hemoperitoneum; due to transected liver; due to blunt abdominal trauma.

March 28, 2017

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the investigation of the death of Paul Marvin Burnham found on 1/25/2017. The manner of death has been determined to be natural with cause of death of congestive heart failure secondary to coronary atherosclerosis, due to hypertensive cardiovascular disease.

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the investigation of Boback Wheeler Bahandori who died in the Skagit County Jail on 12/20/2016. The manner of death has determined to be natural with the cause of death as septic shock due to staphylococcal aureus bacteremia from an arm abscess due to intravenous drug usage.

January 27, 2017

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has completed the identification and examination of an 83 year old male named Paul M. Burnham of Anacortes, WA. The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation, however, there was no trauma noted during the examination.
