DISTRICT COURT

Skagit County District Court is a court of limited jurisdiction. It is the court that handles traffic infractions, misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors, civil claims up to $75,000, small claims and name changes. Claims and infractions cited WITHIN a city's limits are handled by that individual city's municipal court.

SUPERIOR COURT

Skagit County Superior Court is a court of general jurisdiction. It is the trial court for all felonies and civil suits. Superior Court's jurisdiction includes real property,unlawful detainer, adoption, probate, competency, family law and juvenile cases. In addition, Superior Court hears appeals from District Court decisions and other administrative hearing decisions.

The Skagit County Clerk's Office is responsible for maintaining the documents and records of all superior court cases. The Clerk's Office is the administrative and financial arm of Superior Court.

All calendars are subject to change without notice.

Due to the Judicial Spring Conference, Court Calendars for the Week of April 29, 2019 are as follows:

Monday, April 29 - No Pro Se Domestic Motions or At Risk Youth Calendars.  Ex parte Calendar will be at 1:15pm in Superior Court.  Criminal Rightings will be at the Community Justice Center once the Ex parte Calendar is finished in Superior Court.

Tuesday, April 30 - Criminal Rightings will be at the Community Justice Center at 11:00am.  Ex parte Calendar will be at 1:15pm in Superior Court.  No Dependency, Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Protection Orders, Shelter Care or Family Treatment Court Calendars.

Wednesday, May 1 - Criminal Rightings will be at the Community Justice Center at 11:00am.  Ex parte Calendar will be at 1:15pm in Superior Court.  No Criminal, Paternity/Family Support, Fact Finding, Truancy or Drug Court Calendars.

Thursday, May 2 - There will be a Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Protection Order calendar on Thursday, May 2, at 9:30 a.m.  Criminal, Juvenile and Ex parte Calendars per normal schedule.  No Summary Judgment/RALJ Calendar. 

Friday, May 3 – No changes---All regular Court Calendars will be heard at Superior Court.  In-Custody Arraignments and Rightings will be held in the Community Justice Center at 1:30pm.

ITA hearings will be held as usual on April 30th, May 1st and May 3rd.
Bring any emergency orders to Superior Court Administration.


Criminal jury trials shall be set on Monday at 9:00 A.M. If Monday is a holiday, criminal jury trials start on Tuesday at 9:00 A.M. No jury trials will be scheduled during Thanksgiving week or between Christmas and New Years. Court calendars may be cancelled during Judicial Conference week. [Adopted September 1, 2011]

All felony first appearances on Superior Court cases are heard as follows:

Monday –2:30 p.m. via video, Courtroom 4
Tuesday – 3:00 p.m. via video, Courtroom 4
Wednesday – 2:30 p.m. via video, Courtroom 4
Thursday – 9:30 held with the criminal in-custody calendar at the Community Justice Center
Friday – 1:30 p.m. at the Community Justice Center

Monday through Friday 1:15 p.m. Ex Parte Matters [See (L)(1)], juvenile rightings, and Domestic Violence Petitions for hearing dates and temporary restraining orders. [Amended September 1, 2011]

arroe MONDAY

Monday 9:30 a.m. Trial Assignment Calendar. (includes LUPA) If Monday is a holiday, this calendar shall be heard on Tuesday, 9:00 a.m.

Monday 9:00 a.m. Pro-Se Domestic Motions Calendar.  If Monday is a holiday, this calendar shall be heard on Tuesday, 9:00 a.m.

Monday 1:30 p.m. Juvenile At Risk and CHINS Hearings. In weeks with a holiday on Monday, this calendar will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 pm.

Tuesday  9:30 a.m. Domestic Violence, Vulnerable Adult and Sexual Assault Protection Order Hearings. In weeks where Monday is a holiday, this calendar will still be held on Tuesday. If Tuesday is a holiday, this calendar will be held on Monday at 9:30 am.

Tuesday 9:30 a.m. Juvenile Dependency Calendar. In weeks with a holiday on Monday or Tuesday, this calendar shall be heard on Wednesday at 9:30am.

Tuesday 9:30 a.m. Involuntary Commitment Hearings. Off-site. If Monday is a holiday, this calendar will start at 10:30. If Tuesday is a holiday, this calendar will be special set based upon the availability of the attorneys and court personnel. [Amended September 1, 2011]

Tuesday 1:30 p.m. Family Treatment Court. Weekly calendar. In weeks with a holiday on Monday or Tuesday, this calendar shall be heard on Wednesday. Staffing will occur at Noon. (effective 1/8/08)

Tuesday 2:00 p.m.  Shelter Care Hearings. In weeks with a holiday on a Monday or Tuesday, this calendar shall be heard on Wednesday at 2:00 pm.

Wednesday 9:30 a.m. Paternity Hearings and Family Support Motions. In weeks with a holiday on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, there shall be no paternity calendar.

Wednesday 9:30 am. Criminal Motions. 3.5/3.6 hearings, cases with witnesses or briefs and other matters as assigned by the court. Interpreters scheduled upon request. In weeks with a holiday on Thursday or Friday, this should be a limited calendar with emergency matters only. In weeks with the holiday on Monday or Tuesday, this calendar will still be held on Wednesday. If Wednesday is a holiday, there shall be no calendar. [Amended March 1, 2012]

Wednesday 9:30 am. Involuntary Commitment Hearings. OFF-site. If Wednesday is a holiday, there shall be no calendar.

Wednesday 9:30 a.m. Dependency Fact Findings 1st and 3rd. In weeks with a holiday on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, the fact finding hearing will be set on the next Wednesday. [Amended September 1, 2011]

Wednesday 9:30 a.m. Adult Drug Court Contact Drug Court Coordinator for dates.

Wednesday 1:30 p.m. Truancy Hearings. (2nd and 4th week) In weeks with a holiday on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, there shall be no truancy calendar.

Thursday 9:30 a.m. Motions for Summary Judgment, Motions for Declaratory Judgment, RALJ, and Other Potentially Dispositive Motion hearings and all matters in which the Superior Court reviews rulings from inferior tribunals. Other potentially dispositive motions include, but are not limited to CR 12(b)(1)-(7) and 12(c) at least in part. Confirmation for all motions on this calendar is required by 4:00 P.M. Friday the week before the scheduled motion. The moving party shall confirm the motion by calling the Court Administrator's Office at (360) 416-1200. If Thursday is a holiday, there shall be no summary judgment calendar. If any motion mentioned herein is noted on another calendar, it shall be stricken. Thursday 9:30 a.m. Pre-adoption Reviews 2ND Thursday of the month. If Thursday is a holiday, there shall be no pre-adoption review calendar. [Amended September 1, 2011]

Thursday 9:30 a.m. Criminal Calendar. In-custody defendants at the Community Justice Center.

Thursday 1:30 p.m. Juvenile Offender Calendar. In weeks with a holiday on Thursday, there will be no Juvenile Offender calendar.

Friday 8:45 a.m. Adoptions. In weeks with a holiday on Friday, there will be no Adoption calendar. [Amended September 1, 2011]

Friday 9:00 a.m. Probate and Approval of Minor Claim Settlements, Guardianships.In weeks with a holiday on Friday, there will be no motion calendar. [Amended September 1, 2011]

Friday 9:30 a.m. Out-of-Custody Criminal Motions and Probation Violations. In weeks with a holiday on Friday, there will be no motion calendar. Interpreters scheduled upon request.

Friday 9:30 a.m. Involuntary Commitment Hearings. OFF-site. If Friday is a holiday, there shall be no calendar.

Friday 9:30 a.m. Shelter Care Hearings.

Friday 9:30 a.m.  Civil Motions, Minor Emancipations, LUPA hearings. This includes initial and subsequent non-dispositive LUPA hearings. Note: Counsel will be referred to Court Administration at initial hearing to get a final hearing date.   In weeks with a holiday on Friday, there will be no motion calendar. [Amended March 1, 2012]

Friday, 9:30 a.m.   Domestic Motions and Uncontested DissolutionsThis calendar is limited to 20 cases.

Friday, 1:30 p.m.  Domestic Motions and Uncontested Dissolutions This calendar is limited to 10 cases.
