COURT CALENDARS



DISTRICT COURT

Court business continues to be conducted electronically and over the phone. A drop box is available in the District Court lobby Monday through Friday 8:30 to 4:30 for those who need to drop something off in person. Most hearings are being held by Zoom and are being streamed live.

The District Court Clerk’s Office is open with a maximum capacity of two persons for those who have a need to conduct their business in person. The hours of the District Court Clerk’s Office are from 8:30 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 4:30.

Bankcard payments may be made through nCourt, a payment-processing center.

Skagit County District Court is a court of limited jurisdiction. It is the court that handles traffic infractions, misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors, civil claims up to $75,000, small claims and name changes. Claims and infractions cited WITHIN a city's limits are handled by that individual city's municipal court.

SUPERIOR COURT

Emergency Response to COVID-19 Outbreak

Washington State Supreme Court has adopted Order No. 25700-B-602 granting emergency authority to this Court to adopt, modify, and suspend court rules and orders, and to take further actions concerning court operations, as warranted to address the current state of emergency.

Skagit County Superior Court is a court of general jurisdiction. It is the trial court for all felonies and civil suits. Superior Court's jurisdiction includes real property,unlawful detainer, adoption, probate, competency, family law and juvenile cases. In addition, Superior Court hears appeals from District Court decisions and other administrative hearing decisions.

The Skagit County Clerk's Office is responsible for maintaining the documents and records of all superior court cases. The Clerk's Office is the administrative and financial arm of Superior Court.

All calendars are subject to change without notice.

Criminal jury trials shall be set on Monday at 9:00 A.M. If Monday is a holiday, criminal jury trials start on Tuesday at 9:00 A.M. No jury trials will be scheduled during Thanksgiving week or between Christmas and New Years. Court calendars may be cancelled during Judicial Conference week. [Adopted September 1, 2011]

All felony first appearances on Superior Court cases are heard as follows:

Monday –1:30 p.m. at the Skagit County Community Justice Center
Tuesday – 3:00 p.m. via video, Courtroom 4 (In weeks with a Monday holiday, this calendar will begin at 2:30pm)
Wednesday – 3:00 p.m. via video, Courtroom 4
Thursday – 1:30 p.m. at the Skagit County Community Justice Center
Friday – 1:30 p.m. at the Skagit County Community Justice Center

Monday through Friday 1:15 p.m. Ex Parte Matters [See (L)(1)], juvenile rightings, and Domestic Violence Petitions for hearing dates and temporary restraining orders. [Amended September 1, 2011]

MONDAY
9:00 a.m. Pro-Se Domestic Motions Calendar .  If Monday is a holiday, there will be no calendar.
9:00 a.m. Out of Custody Criminal Arraignments/Trial Status [Excel] at the Skagit County Community Justice Center.On weeks where Monday is a holiday, this calendar will be heard on Tuesday at 9:00 at the Courthouse.
9:30 a.m. Trial Assignment Calendar . (includes LUPA) If Monday is a holiday, this calendar shall be heard on Tuesday, 9:30 a.m.
1:30 p.m. Trial Confirmations [Excel] at the Skagit County Community Justice Center If Monday is a holiday, the Trial Confirmations will be heard on the previous Friday 1:30 Criminal Calendar.
1:30 p.m. Civil Protection Order Hearings. In weeks where Monday is a holiday, there shall be no calendar on Monday but will be a Civil Protection Order on Wednesday at 9:00.
2:30 p.m. Juvenile At Risk and CHINS Hearings. In weeks with a holiday on Monday, there will be no calendar.
TUESDAY
9:00 a.m. Juvenile Dependency Calendar. In weeks with a holiday on Tuesday, this calendar shall be heard on Wednesday at 9:00am.
9:00 a.m. Civil Protection Order Hearings. In weeks where Tuesday is a holiday, there will be no calendar.
9:30 a.m. Criminal Motions [Excel] at the Skagit County Community Justice Center. 3.5/3.6 hearings, cases with witnesses or briefs and other matters as assigned by the court. Interpreters scheduled upon request. If Monday or Tuesday is a holiday, there shall be no calendar. [Amended June 15, 2020]
9:30 a.m. Involuntary Commitment Hearings. Off-site. If Tuesday is a holiday, this calendar will be special set based upon the availability of the attorneys and court personnel. [Amended September 1, 2011]
1:30 p.m. Family Recovery Court. Weekly calendar. In weeks with a holiday on Tuesday, this calendar shall be heard on Wednesday. Staffing will occur at Noon. (effective 1/8/08)
2:00 p.m. Shelter Care Hearings. Court open at 2:00pm per SCLJuCR 2.3 – CLERK NOT NEEDED UNTIL 2:30PM.  In weeks with a holiday on a Tuesday, this calendar shall be heard on Wednesday at 2:00pm.
WEDNESDAY
9:00 a.m. Civil Protection Order Hearings. In weeks where Wednesday is a holiday, there will be no calendar.

9:30 a.m. Involuntary Commitment Hearings. OFF-site. If Wednesday is a holiday, there shall be no calendar.
9:30 a.m. Criminal Calendar with Interpreter. [Excel] If Monday or Wednesday is a holiday, there shall be no calendar.
10:00 a.m. Pre-adoption Reviews. 2nd Wednesday of the month. If that Wednesday is a holiday, there shall be no pre-adoption review calendar. [Amended November 15th, 2021]
1:30 p.m. Adult Drug Court Contact Drug Court Coordinator for dates.
THURSDAY
9:00 a.m. Domestic Motions and Uncontested Dissolutions
9:30 a.m. Motions for Summary Judgment, Motions for Declaratory Judgment, RALJ, and Other Potentially Dispositive Motion hearings and all matters in which the Superior Court reviews rulings from inferior tribunals. Other potentially dispositive motions include, but are not limited to CR 12(b)(1)-(7) and 12(c) at least in part. Confirmation for all motions on this calendar is required by 4:00 P.M. Friday the week before the scheduled motion. The moving party shall confirm the motion by calling the Court Administrator's Office at (360) 416-1200. If Thursday is a holiday, there shall be no summary judgment calendar. If any motion mentioned herein is noted on another calendar, it shall be stricken.
