SEVERE WEATHER CENTERS

Severe Weather Centers may open during times of harsh weather to provide safety from the elements to those who need. These programs are led by volunteers and need community support to make them happen. Information about these temporary programs will be updated on this page.

Shelter locations and dates will change based on the needs of the community and updates will be posted on this page.

TEMPORARY SEVERE WEATHER SHELTER

Faith Community Fellowship - OPEN 11/24 - 11/29

SEASONAL WINTER SHELTERS

Shelters will be open 7 nights a week until mid-March 2024.
  • First Steps Center Winter Shelter
    • Adults 18+
    • First come first served
    • Check in daily at 3 PM at the Welcome Home Skagit Resource Center Located at the Salem Lutheran Church 2529 N. Laventue Rd. Mount Vernon
    • Opening tentatively November 16th, 2023
  • Family Promise Winter Shelter

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers should be 18 years and older and will complete a background check before their first shift. Volunteers only fill shifts when it works well for them. All are welcome!

 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (closed Wednesdays), 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Walk-in to Community Action
(330 Pacific Place, MV) during Housing Resource Center Hours. You can also apply for services at the Anacortes Family Center in Anacortes, Samish Indian Nation in Anacortes, or the East County Resource Center in Concrete.  Youth (24 or under) may also apply at Northwest Youth Services or at the YMCA Oasis Teen Center.
