Temporary emergency detour open between Prevedell, Carpenter roads
Residents of Prevedell Road now have access to Pipeline Road via an emergency detour just completed by Skagit County Public Works. Roadway erosion closed Prevedell Road just inside the town limits of Lyman on Feb. 6.
The emergency detour links Prevedell with Carpenter Road, a private road adjacent to county-owned Pipeline road, and is intended for local access only. The detour is not a designated county road; drivers use the detour at their own risk.
Residents are invited to attend a community meeting hosted by the Town of Lyman at 7 p.m. today, Feb. 21, at the Nate Beasely Municipal Building on W. 3rd Street to learn more about long-term repairs to Prevedell Road.
Because this is an emergency detour through the private community on Carpenter Road, Skagit County asks that only locals use the detour, that drivers follow the posted 10 mph speed limit, and keep the number of trips to a minimum whenever possible.
The 40 acre parcel recently acquired by Skagit County to facilitate the emergency detour is not open to the public. Residents using the emergency detour must remain on the roadway. Shooting, harvesting plants, and trespassing is prohibited, and will be reported to law enforcement.
