Maternity Support Services (MSS)
Support Services are preventive health services to help mothers
have a healthy pregnancy. These services are individualized based on
the mother's needs and may be provided by a nurse, a nutritionist, a
behavioral health worker and/or a community health worker. MSS generally
works closely with the WIC Nutrition program.
women with First Steps coverage can enroll in Maternity Support Services
at any time during pregnancy and through the end of the second month
following the end of pregnancy.
First Steps services include:
All women with First Steps (pregnancy) medical coverage through Washington Apple Health (Medicaid) are eligible for Maternity Support Services. A risk assessment determines whether women are eligible for 2, 4-1/2 or 10 hours of services. First Steps medical coverage is available to all pregnant women who live in Washington State and meet the income guidelines found here.
