County hosts July 16 jail information meeting

MOUNT VERNON – Citizens seeking details about a proposed new Skagit County Jail are invited to attend a public informational meeting hosted by the Skagit County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, July 16 at 6 p.m.

On August 6, 2013, Skagit County voters will be asked to approve a three-tenths of 1 percent increase in local sales tax in order to build and operate a new Skagit County Jail.

In addition to County Commissioners Ken Dahlstedt, Sharon Dillon and Ron Wesen, a jail information panel will include Skagit County Sheriff Will Reichardt and Jail Project Manager Marc Estvold.

Also on hand will be Skagit County Superior Court Judge Michael Rickert, and possibly local mayors and tribal representatives.

A project outline and question and answer session will follow presentation of a brief video dedicated to the Skagit County Jail overcrowding issue.

The meeting will take place in the Commissioners Hearing Room, Skagit County Administration Building, 1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon.
