Skagit County first half property taxes due April 30, 2014

SKAGIT COUNTY – The due date for first half property taxes is April 30, 2014, reports Skagit County Treasurer Katie Jungquist.

State law requires that payments postmarked after this date are subject to a 1 percent per month finance charge. An additional 3 percent penalty is assessed if the payment is made after June 2, 2014.

Senior citizens and people with disabilities who own a residence or mobile home and are 61 years of age or older, or who are retired because of a disability and make $35,000 or less, may qualify for a property tax exemption.

County residents may remit tax payments by credit card at www.officialpayments.com or at 1-888-272-9829. The Jurisdiction Code is 5611. A fee is charged for this service. Payments in the form of check or money order can also be dropped off at the drop box located near the stairs in the parking lot behind the courthouse.

Jungquist encourages anyone who does not have a tax statement or needs assistance in any way to contact the Treasurer’s office at 360-336-9350 or at treasurer@co.skagit.wa.us.
