How
does the Skagit Community Energy Challenge work?
Step
1: You sign up for the SCEC assessments.
Email
SkagitCEC@co.skagit.wa.us
or call (360) 419-7607 to indicate your interest in the program and we
will contact you with more information.
You will begin by
meeting with our SCEC Analyst to complete a home assessment focusing on
the areas of energy and water.
This will help you address home comfort issues and reveal opportunities
to lower your bills through insulation, air sealing and other proven measures.
The assessment only costs $95 (a service valued at $500) and is paid at
the time of service. This is the only cost for the program.
You will also have
the option to meet with our waste and
wildlife area volunteers to complete on-site or over-the-phone
assessments. Skagit Countys Master Composter/Recycler group will
help you identify ways to reduce the creation and disposal of waste, while
also helping you to reduce your garbage bills. Local Master Gardeners
will help your property become a Certified Wildlife Habitat and find ways
to make your property low-maintenance, wildlife-friendly, and watershed-safe.
Step
2: We provide a customized Action Plan and Next Steps.
After
a thorough home inspection, the SCEC Analyst produces a full-color home
energy report documenting your homes existing conditions. This report
comes with a customized Energy Action Plan detailing quick-fix, low-cost
and long-term recommendations.
You will also receive
copies of your water, waste, and
wildlife assessment.
You will work with our SCEC staff to identify areas of potential savings
and next steps.
Step
3: We help you become more sustainable and save money!
Once
a variety of cost-effective solutions have been presented, we will guide
you through the process of enacting these measures. We will also connect
you with rebates, contractors, and program assistance. Get ready
to watch the savings roll in!
